The Dreaming is
a participatory artwork. This means the project is proposed,
designed, created, supported, and installed in partnership
with the community. There are many ways you can become a part
of this work.
1. From September
20 through November 14, 2004, daily public Dreaming Conversations
were held throughout Frederick County. If you were unable
to attend a Dreaming Conversation, we invite you to answer
the series of questions posed by the artist online, using
this form.
2. If you would
prefer to explore the questions within a group of acquaintances,
great! Sponsor your own Dreaming Conversation with a group
of friends, a club, a church group, or whatever group you'd
like. We can supply a trained facilitator or you can follow
the guidelines that can be downloaded here:
3. We are looking
for stories of Frederick’s history of the arts and culture,
or individuals or groups who made contributions to that history,
whether they be about your ancestors or some other interesting
aspect you know about but do not see represented yet in the
project. Email us
to tell us your story.
4. You can volunteer for this project.
We need your help, and we offer you the chance to meet great
people, be a part of something rather extraordinary, help
build community and leave a lasting legacy. Email
us to tell if you are interested in this work, and tell
us about any special skills or interests you may have.
5. We very much
need your financial support for this community-building endeavor.
Most of our funding comes from the generosity of the community
itself. If you, your business, or your organization is in
a position to make a contribution in any amount to The Dreaming,
please consider it. You can find
out how to donate here.
6. Please provide
to us any feedback you might have on any part of this project,
from the design to the process via email.
