Shared Vision - www.sharedvision.org
engages the imaginative power of the community as a catalyst
for economic, cultural and social transformation. We leverage
these community benefits through permanent participatory public
art of the highest professional caliber. These large-scale
works are co-created by an artist in collaboration with thousands
of residents of all ages and backgrounds. This process expands
cultural participation into many under-served sectors and
builds ties across divisions of all kinds. Each individual
is invited to help shape an extraordinary artwork, one that
speaks with a collective voice. By providing innovative methods
for community engagement, and by illuminating the common ground
on which our diverse society is built, Shared Vision projects
foster unity and revitalization simultaneously.
We reach audiences that number in the tens of thousands every
year. Admission is free, and the artwork is accessible to
everyone, 24/7/365. For ten years our operating funds have
come entirely from public contributions. Our board of directors
includes community leaders from many sectors.
Shared Vision received the Core Values Award from the International
Association for Public Participation, and the Project of the
Year Award from the American Public Works Association. The
