"The dream is real, my friends.
The failure to realize it is the only unreality."
-- Toni Cade Bambera, writer and activist, b. 1939
We invite individuals
of all ages and backgrounds to answer four questions, culminating
with this one: “If anything were possible, what
would you create?” Community responses will
shape the meaning and design of the work. Fragments of text
expressing divesre voices withint he community will be woven
together and etched into the lower areas of the glass veil.
The answers will descend onto the stone wall below, where
they will fill the entire wall with thousands of words cut
permanently into the stone. This text will be largely invisible
from a distance but legible from close range.
Text will also be
cut into bronze bands backed by glass and set into the stone
pavers of the plaza at the foot of the art wall. These words
will illuminate at night from sources beneath the plaza.

Test will be etched into the stone wall up to the 2nd
story. |
The text will be
edited and assembled in collaboration with visual artists,
poets, storytellers and a calligrapher. This collective statement
will explore and reflect inner visions and latent possibilities.
We invite you to contribute
your voice to this inquiry.
Your words may become permanently etched into the Frederick
streetscape at the heart of the city.
